  • Abstract
    This study aimed to demonsrate the effect of creative drama activities Set Up With Child Literature Texts on Speaking Skills. The research was developed with mixed model which consist of qualitative and quantitative methods. The study was conducted with 44 students; 20 of whom from experimental group and 24 from control group. Quantitative data includes measurement tools which are “Speaking skill rating key” and “Composition (Writing expression) Assessment”. The data collected was analysed by using SPSS program. On the other hand, the qualitative data was obtained from the interviews conducted with students and the teacher. Qualitative data for interview schedule was anayzed by content analysis method. Based on the analysis of data, it was observed that the creative drama activities set up with child literature texts applied in experimental group increased the students’ writing and speaking skills significantly compared to the activities based on teacher guide and students lesson and study books applied in control group. Besides, the data obtained from the interviews conducted with the teacher and students support the findings. In the light of the results obtained from the study, Turkish teaching should be shifted from a teaching based on the elementary course books to an efficient teaching method like creative drama with child literature texts.
