Investigation of Perfectionism and Self–Esteem Scores of Gifted and Average Students

The purpose of the study is to investigate gifted and average students’ perfectionism and self-esteem. The sample consists of 53 gifted and 31 average students who were 2nd and 3rd graders. Data were derived from the WISC-R Intelligence Test, Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale and Culture Free Self- Esteem Scale for Children. For the total sample, the results revealed that while self-esteem showed difference regarding gender and intelligence, perfectionism did not present any difference. However, regarding the total sample it was found out that girls’ positive perfectionism scores were higher than boys. Another important finding of this study was the negative relation between self-esteem and negative perfectionism.
