In this study, I focus on Muhammad Hammasa ‘Abd al-Latif, as a poet, philologist, and literary man from Egypt. I first concentrate on ‘Abd al-Latif’s life, academic works, and professional positions. Then I present my interview with him concerning the current issues in relation to the Arabic language and poetry, as well as to the common problems faced in teaching this language to foreigners.
