Abstract
This work evaluates the synthesis and characterization of Cu (II) complexes of salicylate ligands using green method. The complexes were synthesized by direct mixing of the metal salt (CuCO_3) dissolved in water and a corresponding ligand dissolved also in water. The complex was obtained in excellent yields (80%) by moderate heating in distilled water. The complexes were characterized by Ultra-Violet Spectrophotometer (UV-Vis), solubility, melting point and X-ray diffraction. Metal complex with formula of Cu (II)-L_2 where L = acetylsalicylic acid and salicylic acid were obtained. The ligands gave crystalline complexes as it bonds to the central metal (copper).
