About The Title of ‘Terken’

In Turkish history, after a certain time, there occur changes on the titles of wife as it is in the titles of the rulers. In other words, the title of the ruler turns out to be another word after a while whereas it was “kagan” and “katun” at the beginning. For example, in some Turkish dynasties, we see male titles like hakan, han, sultan, hükümdar, padişah, şah, etc. And female titles like terken, sultan, bige, begüm. The reason of this is, of course, as we have mentioned above, the culutral area that Turks joined and the effects of the religions.
