Abstract
Etymology terminology which takes the meaning of origin science, origin knowledge has taken from the word etimo (object) + logos. The words of a language which are the parts of vocabulary, the originality of the foreign words used in languages, if the word added into Turkish language, more care and more attention should be given while working on the etymology of the word. In this work, the answer of this question ‘How the etymology should be done in Old Turkish and Turkish of Turkey?’ has been tried and the matter has been discussed to the individual who worked on etymology. To make noun from noun appendix +ay/+ey has been discussed, by using this method of creating examples from old, middle and new age of Turkish language (yokay, tolay, iley, ögey, kusey, güney, aday, uzay, etc.) has been given place and on the relating words etymological explanation has been done. An addition to this by joining the first syllable of tow words (Eray Ercan +Aygün etc), by joining two nouns occurrence of words (Atalay, at+al+ay), by using ay nouns (Serenay, Günay etc.) and by the usage of rime at the end of the nouns ( Özay, Sunay etc.) are also indicated.
