Abstract
In this article, based on the information stated in several international language catalogues, some remarks will be made by the quantitative values regarding the place of Turkish language among theworld s languages firstly in terms of origin, geography, population and society and then in terms of linguistic typology. In this way, it is aimed to indicate that Turkish is a language which is slightly above the quantitative ranks among the world s other languages. On the other hand as Turkish is the dominant language in the country it is spoken, it significantly affects the other languages spoken in the same country.
