A CHAGATAI-OGHUZ SHORT GLOSSARY BETWEEN TURKEY MANUSCRIPTS

The lexicography of Chagatai (Eastern Turkish) has many contributions to the development of Turkish language. Especially, the main aim of the dictionaries in the field of Chagatai is to understand the language of Nevâyî. It is possible to see the same approach in Anatolia too. Among the small dictionaries of Chagatai produced in Anatolia, there are Abuşka ve the Dictionary of Şeyh Süleyman Efendi, Lûgat-i Şinasi, Der Beyān-ı Istılāhāt-ı Emlahu’ş-şuarā Mevlānā Nevāyî, and the Dictionary of İmes. The interest in the writings of Nevâyî, and the need for dictionaries of Chagatai resulted from this interest, led studies towards writing dictionaries of this language. The subject of this study is to examine a glossary of Chagatai words written in the field of Anatolia and their meanings in Oghuz Turkish.
