NOMENCLATURES WITHIN THE TYPES OF STORY AND NOVEL FROM THE TANZIMAT UP TONATIONAL LITERATURE

The idea of innovation that comes out as reflection of a cultural and political movement in Ottoman Empire in 19th century makes an overwhelming impression in the field of literature. The literature of Tanzimat which is western as method and has a national aim in terms of core brings about new types too. Out of these types, the story and the novel begins in time to come to the forefront a bit more. The story and the novel are adopted as influential types since they develop within the scope of event and they speak out the messages with an aesthetical sensitiveness to be conveyed to the society. One of the main research questions of the time is the problematique of nomenclature whether they are translated or compilation novels and stories. The notions of story and novel in this period are sometimes used in the name of one another and they are also used jointly for just one type. The objective of this paper is to put forward the contradiction in terms that is confronted in works related to narration and writings from Tanzimat up to National literature.
