THE IMPORTANCE OF TURKISH TRANSLATIONS BASED ON THE TRANSLATION ACTIVITIES IN TURKISH AND OTHER LANGUAGES

Translation activities are of great significance in creation anddevelopment of civilizations, and interaction between cultures. Consideringscientific developments, it is clear that many nations have made progress intheir native languages thanks to these activities. Short information abouttranslations from ancient Greek languages to Arabic, then from Arabic toLatin will be supplied in this article. Furthermore the topic will be extendedto the translations made in history of Turkish (translations from BuddhistUygur texts to “Translation Office” started in Republic Period). Moreover,logical background of translation activities will be discussed and compared. Based on these historical data, some implications and arguments will be put forward about the translation activities in future. (Translation problems and technical problems of translations will not be covered)
