Abstract :
Ray tracing is an image synthesis techniques that is used to accurately simulate the physical light transport in 3D scenes. In this paper we present a new parallel method for rendering JD scenes using ray tracing. We build rays tree in parallel to simulate light rays bouncing throughout the scene and then evaluate the final shading color using parallel post order rays tree traversal. We use surface area heuristic (SAH) bounding volume hierarchies(BVH) to evaluate our new algorithm using NVIDIA CUDA and compare it with recent state of the art ray tracer on CPU and GPU Using transmission and reflection rays we can achieve real-time frame rate for moderate models up to several hundreds of triangles.
