Abstract :
Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) are evolving towards a more cooperative relationship between system and student. More and more, learning is considered as a constructive process rather than a simple transfer of knowledge. This trend has brought to light new intervention teaching strategies. One of these teaching strategies, Cover, Copy, and Compare (CCC) which is a simple, efficient, self-managed academic intervention that can be used to improve accuracy, fluency, and maintenance across students, curricula objectives, academic skill domains, and settings. In this paper, we propose architecture for Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) that support cover, copy compare teaching strategy and uses ontology to represent the domain knowledge.Domain Knowledge representation using ontology makes it easily utilized for educational purposes such as reasoning the diagnosis of the causes behind learner s mistakes and misconceptions to provide appropriate feedback. Animal Kingdom taxonomy course in Arabic content has been chosen as a domain for the proposed ITS and Protege OWL tool used to build ontology.
