Web Usage Pattern Discovery Using Time Stamp Association Rules

Association rules are typically used to describe what items are frequently bought together. Onecould also use them in web usage mining to describe the pages that are often visited together .The goal of web usage mining is to extract useful knowledge from the data that web servers store about the behaviour of the customers. In this paper, we introduce an extension to association rules by the introduction of time stamp that can give us a better insight into the data. Subsequently, the introduced concepts are used in an experiment to pre-process log files for web usage mining. We also describe how the method could be useful for market basket analysis and give an overview of related research. The paper is concluded by some suggestions for future research
