Plane wave diffraction by two parallel overlapped thick semiinfinite impedance plates

A new approach consisting of employing the mode matching method in conjunction with the Fourier transform technique is used to analyse the diffraction of time harmonic plane waves by two parallel overlapped thick impedance half-planes. The problem is formulated as a pair of uncoupled modified Wiener-Hopf equations and solved approximately. Numerical results illustrating the effects of various parameters such as wall thickness, plate to plate separation distance, wall impedance, etc. on the diffraction phenomenon are presented.
