PENGGUNAAN KATA PINJAMAN ARAB DALAM PUISI MELAYU

Malay poetry, as in Malay language itself, is rich with Arabic loan words. Its usage is quite widespread among the most frequently used to the rarely foundwords. In Malay poetry, the use of the Arabic loan word in some circumstances can cause confusion if it does not conform to the original meaning of its usein its original language. This study is an attempt to identify and analyze aspects of the use of the word Arab loan in the modern Malay poetry group. Thecollection of poems is an anthology of the Mahmudah Summur works by Ony Latifah Osman (2006). The research data was selected based on the Arabicword loan that conveyed the specific meanings in a poem. The findings conclude that there are two categories of Arabic language loan use in the texts of thepoems studied, namely; the words that conforms to the original meaning in the Arabic language and the words that are spurious from its original intent.
