  • Abstract
    This study examines the use of language learning strategies and the significance of self-efficacy in the learning of the Arabic language in universities in Malaysia. In particular, the study sought to analyse the relationship between language learning strategies and self-efficacy. Using questionnaires, data was collected from tertiary institutions in peninsular Malaysia. The population of this study were universities students who enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in Arabic, Islamic Law and Jurisprudence, and Islamic Education. A total of 1,050 questionnaires were sent to seven public higher learning institutions and 436 were returned. The results of this study showed that on average most students practice reading strategies, listening strategies, speaking strategies, and vocabulary learning strategies. The study showed that there is a significant relationship between language learning strategies and student achievement. The study also showed that efficacy has a significant relationship with learning strategies.
