Abstract
This study analyzes whether financing of Turkish health care system is equitable by Kakwani Index. Results show that poorer households contribute less to healthcare financing in total using 2002-2003 National Health Accounts Household Expenditure Survey which has the most detailed data on health expenditure. However, detailed inspection of financing sources reveals indirect taxes and out of pocket expenditures as regressive, i.e. inequitable financing sources. This analysis can be replicated when a similar micro data set is published.
