  • Abstract
In order to regulate the personal rights of academicians and to encourage their academic studies, Law No. 6564 was adopted. With the adoption of the law, the increase in the salaries of academicians is reflected in the accounts in December, while the incentive for academic work has been recognized as affecting academics since 2015. It appears that the proposed regulation aims to increase the success of the academicians by improving the personal rights of them by motivating them in the positive direction on the studies of the academicians. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine the correctness of this thinking through the perceptions of academic staff working in private and public universities in Turkey. In the study, the Law on the Amendment of the Law on Higher Education Personnel Number 6564 and other factors affecting motivations of the academic staff working at the universities are examined. Subsequently, a field study was conducted to determine the perceptions of academicians working in foundation universities and public universities in Turkey on academic incentives.
