TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP PRACTICES AMONG THE IBAN OF SARAWAK

This article discusses the level of transformational leadership practiced in the Iban community in Sarawak. Tuai Rumah is a traditional leader and has an important role in the development of the Iban community in the longhouse. This study was conducted in nine longhouses in the Pakan District, Sarawak. A total of 210 heads of households from selected longhouses were randomly selected as respondents. Questionnaires were used to collect information about the practice of transformational leadership among the Iban community. Transformational leadership is examined from the aspect of idealized influence, individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation and inspirational motivation. The data was analyzed using SPSS. The findings showed that transformational leadership practices among the Iban were only at a moderate level. These findings show that the Iban community leaders have begun to practice transformational leadership.
