  • Abstract
    This study intends to perform political power-mapping in the DKI Provincial Jakarta to clarify, to critic and to evaluate the ideologies of political parties and the governance of DKI Jakarta in the effort to increase the participation of women in political practices. It is observed that there is no representative in the 2012 DKI Jakarta election. Political Communication Theory is used in this study focusing on the political ideologies and women as political candidates, the concept of power and hegemony of women political reality and radical feminist. This observation uses the Critical Paradigm through qualitative approach, case study and feminist research. The result of the observation reveals that the power of women in politics in the DKI Jakarta provincial is still at the minimal level compared to men who dominate the political arena. In fact, there has never been any women who nominated to be a candidate nor were nominated by a political party to be a candidate as a Governor. In reality, women has a bigger chance to be the leader of Jakarta. What is needed is endless effort from the women themselves to strengthen themselves and increase their quality until they are able to decrease the domination of the other group of society. The support of political parties are vital to increase the political quality of women.
