Abstract :
The aim of this research is to investigate the effects of the H1N1 prevention campaign messages on knowledge, attitudes and practices of the people in the North East of Penang Island towards H1N1. The campaign was implemented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in 2009. Using the KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, Practice) model as theoretical framework and quantitative survey method, data were collected from 401 residents living in the Northeast area of Penang Island. Convenient sampling method was used to get the samples. The findings of the study shows that: 1) the level of knowledge of the population in the Northeast area of Penang on H1N1 prevention campaign message is moderate; 2) their attitude towards the campaign messages is very positive, and; 3) they practice the messages of the H1N1 prevention campaign. Finally, the researchers suggest that further studies be conducted on the effect H1N1 prevention campaign messages for the whole population of the State of Penang.
