Abstract :
The connection between language and culture is inevitable and has been acknowledged. Language is able to express the various forms and aspects of culture. There are various ways to communicate, either directly or indirectly. Humans are very creative in using language; they use various ways to express desires, feelings and statements. In order to prevent any misinterpretation from happening during the communication process, members of the society will attempt to express their intentions in the best and most accurate way possible. This paper attempts to examine the interaction techniques used in the Kalang Mpat song which is sung by the members of the Bajau Darat society in the district of Kota Belud in Sabah. This paper will focus on the specific interaction techniques used by this community which can be shared with members of other societies.
