Kesusasteraan Bandingan merupakan satu disiplin dalam kajian kesusasteraan. Jika ditekuni mengenai definisi disiplin ini, terdapat pelbagai takrifan yang boleh memberi pemahaman jelas tentang disiplin ini. Antara takrifan Kesusasteraan Bandingan ialah “The study of literature beyond the boundaries of one nation or culture or language. It also examines the relationships between literature and other areas, e.g. the arts, music, social sciences, religion, philosophy and so forth … Theoretically, the comparative study of literature thus provides us with a wide and open field.” (Schipper, Mineke, 1989: 1).
