Abstract :
Food is one of the basic necessities, not only provides nutritional support for human body, but it can also function as a medium of human interactions as well as communications. Just like food, pantun is also known as the tool to convey feelings. The foreshadowing is often ignored and only perceived as to only function as typical structures that could add different unique styles in forming the pantun. This paper aims to explore the elements of food that resemble evidently in the foreshadow part. Not only that the study intends to stretch further the role and significance of such practice in forming the Malay pantun. The study found that the portrayal of Malay food in pantun can be divided into three categories; first is food and its role; second food and its recipe; third is food and its preparation. This study will decide whether or not that Malay food could be included in the group of fusion cuisine; that has its own characteristics, whilst at the same time can function further as symbols to present the unique dimensions of the Malay world.
