ANALYSIS OF PROPHETIC IDEAS TU’MINUBILLAH IN WAJAH SEORANG WANITA

This study focuses on characters in the production of Malay novels. This research intends to prove that Malay literature has a role in the cultivation of prophetic values, the intellectual and social development for the masses. Literature is said to be able to provide more education elements in the context of the presenting the prophetic values through the characters in the novel. This is because, the novel is a reflection of what is happening or is called the image of human life. It is said to be able to develop personality and instilled positive values in the society. The research framework will apply the Prophetic Ideas by Kuntowijoyo. The novel, Wajah Seorang Wanita (1990) will be used for this research. The study had found that in Prophetic Ideas, S.Othman Kelantan demonstrates his consistency to uphold characters in his novels by including a form of message that requires an interpretation by the audience. This occurs in Wajah Seorang Wanita which were analysed using tu’minubillah ethic. The result shows that, the demonstration of female characters in Wajah Seorang Wanita shows the the best portrayal of female character. Siti Musalmah is found to be a character that identifies tu’minubillah ethic. The study concludes that S.Othman Kelantan does not only discuss prophetic issues of the characters in his novels, but also clearly maintains the characters in his works and his personal background across the Malay- Islamic traditional roots.
