FROM INTROSPECTION TO NARRATIVES ACROSS THE ERAS AND BOUNDARIES IN THE WORKS OF A. HALIM ALI

Introspection means an in-depth self-assessment process (thoughts, ideas, and feelings) or making an evaluation on oneself. The journey from self-introspection to narrative cuts across time and boundaries, a shift from the conventional to the breaking of traditions in finding a quintessential work, has shown that A. Halim Ali as a poet who has created his own distinctive style in producing poems. The objective of this paper is to elaborate the four elements in the Textdealism Theory in looking at the outstanding authorship of A. Halim Ali as a prolific poet. This paper will use the Textdealism Theory by Mana Sikana as the reference point. The poet’s instinct is where the effervescent of feelings begins, in which later becomes sadness or happiness, before it is composed with beautiful language. From the introspection, through romanticism poems, the movement of A. Halim Ali’s poems go across eras and boundaries when the “Kembali ke Akar Leluhur” poem and the narratives of his journey in “Kita Bangsa Serumpun” poem are compared. Both poems are seen as breaking the convention to excellence in producing a work. The literature’s position is not only seen as a documentation of one’s experience, but also as a reservoir of education, thoughts and stories of life of a society. Due to it, the task of creating poems itself is laborious because to produce the distinctiveness in one’s work, the poet has to master the aspects of the styles of the language and the selections of events so that the message that is intended to be expressed to the readers can be delivered clearly and flawlessly. Therefore in this case, A. Halim Ali has achieved a level of distinctiveness in producing a work when his styles are nonconforming to the typical aspects of words selection in poem writing.
