Abstract :
This paper presents an effective method to automatically extract welds fromdigitised radiographs. An algorithm was developed to locate and extract welds from theintensity profiles taken across the image by using a simple graphical analysis method. Thealgorithm proposed was successfully applied to extract welds from 45 digitised weldradiographic images. The proposed method of weld segmentation was found work well withradiographs having non-Gaussian intensity distribution across the weld region.
