THE EXTRACURRICULAR READING HABITS OF THE SECOND LEVEL STUDENTS OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL LEVEL STUDENTS OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL

The aim of this research is to determine the extracurricular reading habits of the second level students of the primary school. At the sample of the research there are 335 students in Kadıköy – İstanbul. At the research, the poll that was developed by the researchers based on the scanning literature and that the value Cronbach α is egual to 0,873 has been used. Crosstab Analyze has been applied at the analysing of the datas. The values frequency (n), percent (%) are given and “Chi-Square” has been used. At the result of the research it has been determined that the books like the story and the novel are mostly read by male students and that the students who have high grade point average find more sufficient themselves in terms of the abilities of the speed reading and the quiet reading. The findings that have been obtained from the results of the research display that it is required to take developed precautions about the reading activities of the students.
