Abstract :
Examining musical profiles of second level students in primary education at Yozgat province and recommendations on the existing situation are aimed in this study. Sample group of the research consists of 417 students currently attending to second level of a private primary education school and a state-owned primary education school at Yozgat provincial center and of a state-owned primary education school far from provincial center. Results obtained in the study includes findings such as most of the students enjoy listening music in their daily lives and listen to music for entertainment purposes, that in general they prefer music genres and artists which are produced by popular culture, that they consider the artists they listen and like as models, that musical activities are not held regularly in the area they live, that there is a difference between their musical preferences and those of their families, and that most of themfollow video clips and music competitions from music programmes on television and radio.
