Abstract :
Purpose of this study is to examine whether there are differences in the self-efficacy beliefs of primary school principals regarding to their educational level, professional seniority, type of appointment, inservice training received on school management and use of power types. General self-efficacy levels of seventy-two principals were determined in the province of Rize . General Self-Efficacy Scale were used for data collection, its validity and reliability were analysed and adapted for Turkish by Aypay (2009). The findings prove that the principals have high general self-efficacy beliefs. In addition, it is specified that the use of expert and rewarding powers positively effect them. It is recommended to investigate how the principals high self-efficacy beliefs effect teachers and students’ performances.
