Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to determine that how the abstraction andgeneralization developed, with the help of having the knowledge of the concept of limit of asingle variable functions that the mathematics teacher candidates have. For this, in a written questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions, has asked to 52 students, who are in theirsecond year, studying at the department of a State University’s of Science and Math, HighSchool Math Teacher Education Department. In this article, three questions’ answers which aredirectly related to the subject are analyzed. The results show that the candidates can be verysuccessful in generalizations, by not replacing their existing cognitive structures and ideas. However, the candidates used to determine the limit of single variable functions at a point in amethod, called the limit of a function of two variables point around the shape of all kinds in theapproach should be independent, could not help concluding that the candidates.
