Abstract :
The main aim of this research -in which quantitativeresearch approach was employedisevaluating teacher candidates’ competencies on writing testing situation questions. In thisresearch, survey method design was employed. The samples group was selected by a simplerandommethodThe sample of this study consisted of 175 teacher candidates studying at thefourth classes of the departments of Computer and Instructional Technologies, Primary School, Turkish, Social Sciences, Science and Technology Teaching at 2009-2010 academic year.Aachievement testwhich was developed by the researcher was used and data were analyzedby frequencies, percentages and chi-square tests. According to the results of this study, teachercandidates wrote correctly the testing situation question related to the grades of knowledge,implementing, synthesizing, comprehension, analyzing and evaluating from the upper to thelower level. Besides, teacher candidates’ competencies on writing testing situation questionsrelated to the lower cognitive levels that are knowledge, comprehension and implementinggrades were revealed to be higher than their competencies on writing testing situationquestions related to the upper cognitive levels that are analyzing, synthesizing and evaluatinggrades. According to the results, some suggestions were developed related to raising teachercandidates’ competency levels on cognitive domain and its grades.
