Abstract
The interactions of 4.5 A GeV/c Mg and S nuclei with emulsion were studied. The experimental inelastic mean free path for these interactions is compared with theoretically calculated values. The average multiplicities of the emitted secondary charged particles for total disintegration were investigated. Total disintegration events are analysed to investigate the characteristics of secondary charged particles produced in such collisions. The results show that the multiplicity distributions of relativistic charged particles agree with the Gaussian distribution. The average multiplicity of grey and black particles is in good agreement with the prediction of the fireball model. The probabilty of total disintegration ofAg(Br) nuclei by different projectiles is nearly independent of the incident energy.
