Abstract :
This paper aims to investigate the presence of feminism in Pakistanifiction in the postcolonial perspective and attempts to glocalize thefeministic trends available in Pakistani fiction in terms of the widerscenario of feminism in the world. The women’s portrayal in Pakistanifiction shows a remarkable feministic tendency of the writers inaccordance with the changing times in Indo-Pak subcontinent underthe influence of British colonialism in India. The first change in theportrayal of women came because of the reformist agenda of theIndian Muslims and the second major development took place becauseof the Progressive Writers Movement, which provided a basis for thenew images of women created by the modern Pakistani diasporawriters. Therefore, most of the issues discussed by the Pakistaniwriters of fiction can be discussed and analyzed with reference to thetheory of postcolonial feminism. The paper deals with the differencesbetween Western feminism and postcolonial feminism in the light ofviews of postcolonial critics regarding various aspects of postcolonialfeminism. With reference to this discussion, an endeavor will be madeto explore postcolonial feminist fiction to assess the role of fictionwriters in representing the issues of women in the context of Pakistanipolitical situation.
