Abstract :
The existence of the Ancient Greek Mythological characters beyond the Antiquity is often related to the problem of fragmentary interpretations of these figures when each of them embodies and characterizes just only one certain feature and represents this feature in the culture. At the same time the richest palette of other elements which is represented with that mythological tradition is almost absolutely ignored. So, Muses are some of the most popular and the most frequently mentioned characters of the ancient Greek mythology. However, almost all that we know about the ancient Muse can be summarized, mainly, with the conception of inspiration, which was for an ancient Greek just a connotation, a secondary element. Whereas the base of these mythologies is an idea of morality, particularly in art. This idea presents an invisible power, which influences and illuminates absolutely all of the phenomena, related to this mythology. These phenomena – the origin and essence of Muses, their relations with other mythological characters, their mythological functions are considered in this work in the context of the Muses’ mythology’s Ethos. The special attention is focused on the problem of the interdependence of such concepts as Muse, a creator, a piece of art, an audience. The problem of the relations between them was elicited with the ancient Greek culture at the very early, an “archaic” period of the Greek history and the first attempt to solve this problemwas made in the frames of the Muses’ mythology.
