Abstract :
Heritage artefacts have cycles of slow or rapid decay starting from first day on which they are produced. This cycling can be caused by environmental conditions, human faults or natural disasters. In communities where conservation consciousness does not develop, both movable and immovable cultural heritage works cannot be transmitted to future generations in a healthy way. In libraries, archives and museums (LAM) and other cultural heritage structures / areas, both immovable artefacts and portable objects that existed as in situ, storage and display areas are subject to physical, chemical and biological degradation. In order to avoid the rapid deterioration of the artefact in the concept of preventive protection, it is necessary to know the causes of the deterioration and therefore to develop appropriate measures in advance. One of the most important detrimental risk factors is the negative condition affecting the indoor environment of cultural heritage structures such as LAM buildings. These negative risk factors include internal comfort parameters such as temperature, relative humidity and light as well as air pollutants. The effects of these risk factors on the artifact can develop rapidly in a short period of time as well as in a long period of time. These deteriorations are also one of the priority issues for decision-makers who are responsible for protecting cultural heritage. If these deteriorating measures are taken in advance, it will be easier and faster to overcome them and to minimize their effects. The purpose of the study is to obtain a model for the information and culture centres serving as LAM, by a survey study which is carried out in the scope of the MEMORI Project, one of the EU 7th Framework Projects. The surveys regarding protect cultural heritage are conducted with the aim of raising awareness towards modern conservation and towards compliance with the standards. The creation of modern conservation awareness compliance with standards will be ensured with the surveys conducted to protect cultural heritage.
