A COMPARISION OF TURKISH AND HUNGARIAN PHONOLOGICAL STRUCTURES

This study aims to investigate the similarities and differences between Turkish and Hungarian phonologic structures within a comparative observation technique. Within this scope, Selen (1979) and Ergenç (1989) were used for Turkish and Szende (1994) and Gosy (2004) were based for Hungarian phonological structure. Both languages which carry double consonants are affected by vowel ha mony and consonant assimilation. As for the main point where the phonological structures of languages are seperated is related to the effect of long and short vowels which is a suprasegmental phoneme on Hungarian. The vowel of /e/ has three distributive parameters and this vowel has any distinctive features on semantic change of the lexical items for both in Turkish and Hungarian..
