Abstract
Assessing split renal function by renal scan is being increasingly omitted, from the transplant donor work-up tests in many transplant centers. This is apparently based on the assumption that the gross symmetry of the renal anatomy (size) and function as depicted by ultrasound and/or excretory phase of computerized tomography (CT) angiography is sufficient to avoid missing clinically significant renal functional/ anatomical asymmetry.
