FACEBOOK: AN OBSERVATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS

Facebook, the world s popular social networking site has created a new phenomenon of human relationships. Generally, the use of facebook intends to track former friends, build a broader social network by sharing pictures, playing games, and various applications that draw interest of all ages - from young ages to adult. The rapid evolvement of facebook gives either negative or positive impacts to many aspects of life. Thus, the phenomenon has led to a new culture amongst the society at present. This has attracted many researchers to look at the phenomenon from various angles. This concept paper will discuss the factors that trigger the phenomenon, the patterns of its usage in the world community, the effects and implications of facebook on society, especially children and adolescents.
