Abstract :
Folklore stories is a type of Malay stories which constitutes of fairy tale elements which are often associated with the advantures of hero and heroines among princes and princesses. Romance, magical and aggrandizement of the hero is the main theme of the story. Aspects of Malay thinking can be seen in the choosen story, particularly in the selected text as Hikayat Malim Deman, Hikayat Malim Dewa, Hikayat Awang Sulung Merah Muda and Hikayat Raja Muda. Each text will be identified, analyzed and described in detail from the aspects of thinking. Studies conducted by using the literature methods. As a result, there are several books related to folklore stories that have been recorded. Sociological approach is applied because it can unlock issues implied in the story and the purpose of the story. Among the Malay thinking embodied are thoughts about moral and character, sociopolitical and leadership, heroism, socioeconomic and religions.
