Abstract :
Malay folklore is one of the Malay literature genres which is famous among the traditional Malay society. It is being delivered orally and therefore, the folklore is full of values and advice to listeners. This study was conducted to identify and analyze the value of kindness through the Malay folklore, especially among the Malay community. Value such as kind to the community is very important as a medium to educate the community. Consequently, every folklore that is heard or read by the Malay community was able to put the idea in his/her mind and will be remembered forever. The values in each of the stories will help to inculcate high moral value among the community. This research is focused on identifying and analyzing the value of kindness in the Malay folklore. The Malay Methodology theory was used for the purpose of the study. This study found that the Malay folklore stories consist of kindness value that has important functions among the Malay community.
