Abstract :
The study focuses on the oral communication strategy among small vendors at Sri Serdang, Selangor. The main objectives of the study are to identify speech events and oral communication strategy towards the effectiveness on the use of Malay language as a main medium of communication both in formal and informal settings. 100 respondents from small trading at Sri Serdang have been selected randomly regardless of their backgrounds. The instrument used in the study is questionnaire which consists of 30 items. The analysis of data is descriptive to calculate the percentage and frequency. The finding shows that events and effective oral communication strategy will improve the business. The finding will benefit the small vendors in term of improving their oral communication in order for the business to success. Therefore, oral communication is very important for mutual relationship with other people and to expand the business.
