Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to develop a scale measuring the attitudes of undergraduate students enrolled in degree programs other than field of sport towards sport. 172 women (51%) and 165 men (49%) a total of 337 students studying at the School of Foreign Languages of Ankara University participated voluntarily in the study. Item-total correlation test, Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin (KMO) and Barlett’s Sphericity test, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used. The analysis yielded a three factor solution (psychosocial development, physical development and mental development) with 22 items. Factor loadings ranging between .452 and .850. Cronbach’s Alpha was used to assess the reliability of the scale and Spearman Brown was used to estimate the internal consistency coefficients ,915 and ,823, respectively. As a result of the reliability and validity tests, it has been concluded that the scale is a practical measurement tool to measure the attitudes of undergraduate students towards sport.
