DETERMINATION OF ATTITUDES OF STUDENTS STUDYING AT THE UNIVERSITY SPORTS DEPARTMENTS TOWARDS IN ANKARA SUSTAINABILITY IN SPORT

The aim of this study was to determine of attitudes of students studying at the sports departments of public universities in Ankara towards sustainability in sport. The research’s sample group consisted of 671 undergradu-ate students studying at the department of sports at Ankara University, Gazi University and Hacettepe University. Sus-tainability in Sport Questionnaire (SSQ) developed by Koçak (2013) was applied to the students. Cronbach s alpha values for the whole scale was calculated as .091. As well as descriptive statistics, for the data didn’t show a normal distribution, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman s Rho test were also used to analyze the related data. In the study, it was determined that the students had positive attitudes to sustainability in sport. In general, both female and male attitudes’ towards sustainability in sport were similar but individual sustainability attitudes of female were higher than those of male. Besides, sustainability attitudes of sports management department students were higher in comparison to those of other department students while sustainability attitudes of licensed athletes were higher in comparison to those athletes who do not have licensed. As a result, it was determined that the university students study-ing at the sports departments had positive sustainability attitudes towards both in the whole of SSQ and its dimensions.
