Abstract :
The aim of this study was to evaluate the trait anxiety levels of football referees according to some variables. The sample of the study consisted of 106 football referees in total who served in the province of Aegean region. In this research, “State and Trait Anxiety Inventory” which was developed by C. Spielberger (1970) and adapted by Öner and Le Compte (1985) were used to collect data. The data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 (Statistical package for social sciences) package program. Normal distribution conformity of data has been determined by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. For all the groups, it has been found that data did not display normal distribution. Correspondingly, nonparametric tests, Kruska-Wallis and Mann Whitney-U, have been used to analyze data. As a result of this research; there was not a significant difference in terms of trait anxiety levels before the competitions according to gender, referee categories and referee times.
