Abstract :
In this study, the purpose of the research was to investigate the judo athletes’ problem solving skills and their level of sport confidence at the Centre of Olympic Preparation in Trabzon. The research group was consisted of 60 judo athletes. As data collection tools, Problem Solving Skills Scale developed by Heppner and Peterson (1982) and Turkish adaptation of this scale by Sahin, Sahin and Heppner (1993) was used. Trait Sport Confidence Scale developed by Vealey (1986) and Turkish adaptation of this scale by Engur and et all. (2006) was used. The data was analyzed using Descriptive Statistic, Independent Samples T-Test, One Way Anova and Pearson Correlation Test. As a result of this study, problem solving skills were compared according to gender and whether they are national team members, a statistically significant difference was found between males and females. Besides, when age, training background, training year with a coach and education level are compared, a statistically significant difference was found for education level parameter. When sport confidence was compared according to the variables aforementioned, no statistically significant difference was found (p 0.05).
