Abstract :
Starting his career in 1909 in İzmir as police officer, Ahmet Hamdi Efendi remained away from his duty between the years 1912-1914 and for a while in 1916. In the years while he had served as police officer and commissar in İzmir, he was awarded many times for his success in struggling with the criminals. After he was assigned to Denizli Police Commissariat in 25 June 1919, he officially resigned his duty to join the National Struggle. Disengaged from his duty, he joined Redd-i İlhak Heyeti Milliye as a volunteer. Then, Hamdi Bey made great efforts to enlist volunteers and stop Rum people’s attempts to disturb the peace. Afterwards he was sent to Sarayköy fronts with the battalion named after him as “Hamdi Bey Müfrezesi”. After he was sent to Sarayköy with his battalion in June 18th, he was commissioned to restore the peace in Nazilli after the Greeks left in 19-20 June 1919. After maintaining the order, Hamdi Bey provided assistance from Denizli to prevent starvation.Remaining in the frontiers of Aydın, Umurly and Kösk and sometimes in Denizli during the National Struggle period, Hamdi Bey went to Muğla with the Vice Governor Müstak Bey two days before the outbreak of the Denizli Event. There he was given the task to reinforce Muğla Police Department. After the end of the National Struggle, Hamdi Bey made an official application to return to Police Commissariat. After being assigned to Bilecik Commissariat, Hamdi Bey suddenly fell sick and passed away as he set out to Muğla to take his family.
