Abstract :
Following the Independency war, the victorious new Turkish State attanded the Lausanne Conference to have her existance as a completely independent state approved internationally. Tension and bargains among delegations, increasing day by day after the conference convened on 20th November 1922, resulted in dead end on some points of discussions and the conference was suspended on 4th February 1923 due to conflict experinced in the course of time. In this process, military arrangments were in progress on one hand and developments concerning the conference were being regularly discussed in public and private sessions of the Grand National Assambly of Turkey on the other hand. When the peace negotiations were chocked up, the Turkish State commenced to take new military measures particularly in Thrace and the Straits in the attempt of a new war, if necessary. This article deals with and analyses, on the basis of archieved documents and certificates, the military measures taken particularly in Thrace and the Straits during Lousanne Conference. Lausanne Conference, re-convened on 23th April 1923, ended by Lausanne Peace Agreement, following arduous discussions between the allied nations and the Turkish Delegation, on 24th July 1923.
