Abstract :
The Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I and after signing the Moudros Armistice her territories were invaded by the Allied Powers. After the successful struggle of the Turkish nation against the invasion, Mudanya Armistice was signed and battle in Anatolia ceased. Afterwards it was decided to be organised a conference in Lausanne in Sweden to sign a peace agreement. The committee that would attend the conference departed to Lausanne, having the purpose of imposing the main principles of the National Struggle: the‘National Treaty’. Henceforward, the diplomatic activities of Turkey began. Despite the adjourment of conference which was supposed to meet on 13th November, the Turkish Committee didn’t return to Turkey and worked to get a good result in favour of Turkey until 22nd November. Ismet Pasha, president of the Turkish Committee, specified during the official and informal initiatives that Turkey had been side with peace and National Pact would have constituted the basic subject of the Turkish side in the negotiations. Those kind of diplomatic activities before the Lausanne Conference provided participants to know and understand each other. Turkey got a chance to announce the cases that she never could make any concessions and with the affirmative attitudes Turkey tried to create a public opinion in favour of her.
