Abstract :
This article provides a description of the continuing professional development (CPD) model for tutor- training adopted within the e-Educator project, which takes a leamer-centred enquiry-based approach. The e-Educator curriculum is outlined as well as the process by which tutors engage to develop their confidence and competence in areas of practice that they perceive as relevant. The module takes account of the need for tutors to experience for themselves a variety of online approaches to learning in order to develop an understanding of the nature of the online experience, as well as the range of pedagogic approaches that are possible. The ways the module allows tutors to identify their personal needs, evaluate their progress and set goals for both personal and professional development through an online personal development planning tool is described.
